Downtown High River will be filled with live music again this summer.

The Venue on 5th Ave. SW launches its Summer Series and Bandstand Sundays this weekend.

Normally, the Summer Series runs Saturdays, but as part of Seniors Week, they have a special lineup on Friday.

Local musicians Ronnie Kerr and Bruce Hoffman will be playing some classic Country favourites starting at 7 p.m. on the Venue's stage, and Mexican Dancers get the entertainment started at 6 p.m.

Then the Summer Series kicks off in earnest this Saturday afternoon with local jazz musicians from Highwood High and Senator Riley Middle School at 2 p.m.

There will be a break before Bluerock Junction hits the stage at 7 p.m. with their funk, blues and rock sound.

Live music will greet you from 1 to 3 p.m. in George Lane Memorial Park for Bandstand Sunday, with the River Poets performing their folk and roots music.

All the events are free to attend. However, donations are always appreciated and welcomed.

The community piano is also out of storage, tuned up and ready to go at the Venue for anyone who wants to play it.

Go to their website for the complete lineup.
