The Thackery family from Town of Goodwater is hosting the third annual Pancakes for STARS fundraiser. Sheila Thackery explains they are serving a by-donation pancake breakfast with all proceeds donated to STARS.
“If you want to put in 10 bucks, 50 bucks, whatever you put in the pot, that all 100% goes back to STARS and we make the donation on behalf of our community. “
Thackery explains they began the annual fundraiser after having to use the air ambulance themselves. She says they quickly became aware of people around them who had also relied on STARS, and decided they needed to take action.
“Once we started looking into what we would want to do, we realized we know a lot of people that have needed to use the service, and you don't really realize that until you use it yourself. So this is just our way of giving back to that program.”
The event is fully sponsored, meaning 100% of donations will go to STARS. Their fundraising goal is $3500, the approximate cost of one mission.
“The hall has sponsored the location, Parrish and Heimbeckers have sponsored the pancake mix, Western Prime Meats has sponsored the sausage, and the Ebenfeld Hutterite Brethren Colony has donated the double yolk eggs and so that way we are able to give 100% back of the proceeds.”
Pancakes for Stars will be held at the Goodwater Community Hall this Father's Day, June 15th with breakfast served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tax receipts are available for all donations made.
