There is a Homeschool Market underway at the Okotoks Lions Campground this afternoon.
According to the Organizer, Sarah Arsenault, this is put on by a homeschooling group called Wild and Free, which is not based on a curriculum or a specific type of schooling.
"We just had a handicraft market just to highlight some of the kids' talents and interests, and this is our fourth year doing it," Arsenault explained. "Every year it's grown, and this is just different homeschoolers from the Foothills area, pretty much."
Arsenault says this market is usually around the first week of June, and the last couple of years it has been at the Okotoks Lions Campground.
"The whole point of [the market] is for kids to, kind of get, into entrepreneurship, you get whatever you put in."
There are 18 vendors at the market this year.

This is a yearly market, but Arsenault says they have tossed around the idea of a Christmas Market, but venues can be hard to find.
At this market, it is only items created by the children that are for sale.
"When you look at it all, it's pretty cool, some of the things that they've made."
The market will be going until 1:30 p.m. today, and Arsenault says you are missing out if you don't make it down.
According to Arsenault, to participate in the market in future years, you have to be part of the Wild and Free homeschooling community, but anyone is able to come by and buy a handmade craft from the kids.
