Madison Schultz was chosen as Holy Cross Collegiate's class of 2025 valedictorian.
"I was really excited, and it was also a little bit of a relief because it's something that I've been working really hard for my whole high school career," reflected Schultz on finding out she was selected for the position.
Among many other academic successes, Madison achieved 100 per cent on her biology diploma exam. She was an active member of her school community, playing on both the basketball and volleyball teams while also performing as a trumpet player in the school band.
"Even though things get hard, as long as you keep persevering and you put your head down and work hard, you'll always achieve your goals and your dreams. Just never give up," was her message to her graduating classmates.
One of the high school senior's favourite memories of her last year was her high school band trips to Whistler and Vancouver.
Her post-graduation plan is to attend the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She will be taking a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in conservation biology.
"Biology is my passion and I hope one day I will get to end up working in a zoo," Schultz revealed.
Holy Cross Collegiate is hosting its graduation ceremony on Saturday (June 14).
