Track and field athletes from all over Saskatchewan will be in Moose Jaw this weekend competing for a spot on the provincial podium.

While multiple athletic districts include schools in the region, the West Central District Athletic Association and Battle West District Athletic Association are the most hyper-local with kids concentrated right in west-central Saskatchewan. Leader is part of the South West, Delisle is part of the Central Valley, a few more stragglers joining them, as the main focus shifts to the local bubble featuring all schools within the Sun West School Division, and a handful of schools in the southern region of the Living Sky School Division borders.

Highlighting the local list of athletes out of the West Central district are the Rosetown Royals and their 40 entrants into various events. The next highest number of entries are from Kenaston at 17, Outlook High School at 17, and then another 16 Outlook athletes from LCBI.

The Battle West District has large numbers coming out of two towns. Unity is sending 32 athletes to provincials, Wilkie the next closest at 21. After that the only local schools included see Luseland and Macklin each sending eight athletes.

Both of those districts also have eight teams registered for relay races. The complete schedule for Track and Field provincials at Gutheridge Field in Moose Jaw can be found HERE.
