After much work, a flurry of renovations and critical preparations, the Humboldt and District SPCA staff and board say they are ready for the big move to their new location. The SPCA acquired property and buildings just south of its current location.
The moving dates are Friday June 20 and Saturday June 21, and the call is out for volunteers and casual helpers to ship everything, including the animals over.
Janice Weber with the SPCA says they are in need of plenty of hands but also some specialized transport equipment.
Chief among their needs is a truck with a flat deck trailer to transport the outdoor kennels and the c-can containers that houses supplies. The organization is trying to source a crane lift to help with those items.
There’s also a need for enclosed trailers to haul everything from furnishings to animals and other supplies.
“If there are people who would like to come prior to the moving dates to help us pack and get some of the smaller stuff over, that would be great,” says Weber.
The hope is to have the bulk of the moving done so that on June 21, volunteers can focus on transporting the animals.
If you have transport trailers or equipment, or if you would like to volunteer, it’s as easy as calling the Humboldt and District SPCA at (306) 682-5550 to leave your name and say how you can help.
The new facility will provide more space and the potential for more services. If you can lend a hand with the move, come on out and support the animals and their friends.
