A 48-year-old Olds man is facing several child pornography charges following his arrest earlier this week.
The arrest follows an investigation that began in late May with the assistance of the Alberta RCMP Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE).
RCMP say that on Tuesday, June 3, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Olds RCMP, with the assistance of ICE, executed a search warrant at an Olds residence. As a result, Charles Landon was arrested and charged.
Landon was charged with:
- Child Pornography - Transmits, makes available, distributes or sells
- Child Pornography - Possession
- Child Pornography - Accessing
- Child Pornography - Print/publish/makes
He was released on a release order with an extensive list of conditions following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing. He will next appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on July 7.
"Olds RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community, as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal," said Sgt. Jamie Day, Detachment Commander of Olds RCMP.
"Olds RCMP would like to thank ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit for their assistance during this investigation," he said.
