Rob Carnie - It's Take Five with Carnie and Carmichael, featuring City Manager Maryse Carmichael. With all the latest from Moose Jaw City Hall, and the latest, city manager, is property tax notices/reassessment tie in.
It's there, we've got it in the mail. I got my property tax notice telling me what I'm paying. Paying a base tax for infrastructure and the base tax for parks and recreation, those aren't new, and I'm still paying for the cast iron water main replacement that I had done over at the place back in 2019. I'm sure everybody's property tax notice is a little bit different, right?
Maryse Carmichael - It is a little bit different this year. We are in the process of mailing tax notices to all of our residents. This year is a reassessment year, which means we have completed the assessment of homes in the city of Moose Jaw with our subcontractor, SAMA.
You'll notice that there's a new value there. Earlier this year Council approved a new property tax increase of 5.17 per cent. And just for information for all our residents: included in that 5.17 per cent increase is a 3.66 per cent increase that goes to support our city infrastructure, programs, and services. And 1.51 per cent for our Moose Jaw Police Service.
