The Kinsmen Club of Rosetown is in the running for a grant that would go a long way towards continuing a community project in town.

The club is in the second phase of their All-Inclusive Playground Project and are seeking the $25,000 Communities at Play Grant from SandBox Mutual Insurance.

There are five winners, and with only one grant left to give out, Kin Club of Rosetown President Clark Gawryluik reached out to WestCentralOnline to help get a final push ahead of the final day of voting on June 23.

"We found out they had awarded four already, and we were one of five other projects in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba that would be part of the online voting contest to get the last $25,000 grant."

Phase 1 was completed in 2024 with the official construction of the playground. Now more funds are needed for what's next, as Gawryluik shared what's coming to the park with Phase 2.

"Going to be a shade shelter, picnic benches, park benches. We've got some sidewalks going to the parking lots, and the play structure itself." he said, adding that a new piece of play equipment is also coming. "We are putting in an all-inclusive orbital spinner, like a small merry-go-round, that will fit up to four scooters or wheelchairs."

Their goal for the space is create a place for all kids to play, regardless of ability, and with the play structure in place accomplishing that winning the contest would get Phase 2 off to a great start.

"It's going to be roughly around $95,000, so that will go towards covering that."

It's a dream that's slowly coming to life in the West Central community. Once again, voting is open every day until June 23 through the link available below.
