The Government of Saskatchewan is providing an additional $500 in financial assistance to residents displaced by ongoing wildfires, Premier Scott Moe announced June 11.
The emergency funds will be issued to residents over the age of 18 who live in evacuated communities.
"Our government recognizes the impact of wildfires on these residents," Moe said. "These funds will help support families throughout these evacuations and as they return to their home communities."
The funds will be granted directly to communities and distributed by local leadership to eligible residents. This assistance is in addition to the increased financial support announced on June 7 for evacuees registered with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA).
To date, the province has also provided $15 million to the Canadian Red Cross to aid those displaced by the wildfires threatening several communities across Saskatchewan.
