Summer has almost arrived, and with that comes construction season.
It will be a busy few months in Winnipeg with crews working on nearly 150 kilometres of road, bridge, and active transportation infrastructure.
Over $164 million has been budgeted for street improvements in 2025, with almost all scheduled projects tendered and either already started or starting shortly.
"We’re making record investments in road renewal over the next several years," said Mayor Scott Gillingham. "These upgrades will make it safer and smoother for people to get around, whether they’re driving, cycling, or walking. I want to thank Winnipeggers for their patience as this work gets done."
Crews will continue to work on the Pembina Highway Bridges over the La Salle River and the Pembina Highway Overpass at Abinojii Mikanah.
Some of the other major projects include interim repairs to the Louise and Midtown Bridges, Inkster Boulevard, McGregor Street and Dugald Road.
The city is encouraging Winnipeggers to keep up with lane closures and traffic impacts on its lane closures page.
