Agape Table has received a significant donation towards their new facility.

This week, Manitoba's Credit Unions teamed up and donated $72,000 towards their expanded building.

"In an environment of inflationary pressures and rising food insecurity, we look for partners dedicated to poverty reduction, affordable housing and other initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our communities," said Assiniboine Credit Union CEO Kevin Sitka. "Agape Table already does exceptional work; with this support from Manitoba’s Credit Unions, they will make Winnipeg an even healthier, more caring place to live."

Agape Table Executive Director Jim Steep says they are beyond thrilled with the generous donation.

"The support of this important project will significantly impact our fundraising efforts," said Steep. "Thank you for your help in getting us closer to realizing our dream of having our own building to better serve our guests."

The new space, on Furby Street, will offer 10,500 square feet of space, including a dining hall, a fully equipped kitchen and an efficient loading area.

It will also feature a modern design with abundant natural light, enhanced accessibility, and high energy efficiency.

Construction on the new building started in October and is expected to wrap up in early 2026.

Agape Table has been serving meals to the vulnerable and marginalized in Winnipeg for 45 years.
