The future of Altona Minor Softball looks brighter than ever with a passionate team of individuals who are working hard to improve diamonds and grow the sport!

Altona Angels Softball

The Altona Angels Softball Club has been operating since 1986. In the last 5 years, participation has increased almost 30%, putting additional pressure on the existing shared-use facilities at École West Park School, École Parkside School and W.C. Miller Collegiate

Altona Angels Minor Softball believes in the power of community and the positive impact that sports can have on our youth. The organization is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for young athletes to develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and learn valuable life lessons through the game of softball.

Currently, their program serves over 115 girls ranging from ages 5 to 19. With your help, their goal is to provide them with up-to-date equipment, safe diamonds, and top-quality facilities to be proud of. Your generous donation will directly support the vision for enhancing their softball program through the following initiatives:

• Upgrading playing fields to ensure a safe and professional environment.

• Purchasing new equipment such as bats, balls, helmets, and uniforms.

• Providing financial assistance for families in need, ensuring all girls who want to play, can.

• Hosting tournaments which will bring communities together in Altona and, in that way, support our local businesses

Dollars for Diamonds

Derek Sawatzky is the president of Altona Minor Softball and told us all about the Dollars for Diamonds campaign, "So dollar for diamonds is a campaign where we are trying to raise money to be able to increase the quality of the diamonds that we have for our softball teams. The campaign that's really active, we have a business side where we're canvassing businesses for donations and there's a way for people to contribute as well through a 50/50 campaign that we're running from now until July 27th."

Last year the 50/50 raffle pot grew to $14,920 and this year they are looking to surpass that number!

July 1st your next opportunity at snagging an Early Bird Prize of $500 before they make the winning draw of half the final pot on July 27th.

How the money raised will be used

Altona Minor Softball President Derek Sawatzky touched on the next projects for the group, "So we'll be adding bleachers to a couple of our diamonds for our fans to be able to come out and enjoy watching the game, they don't need to bring chairs along if we have those bleachers. We also need to continue working on the dugouts, the dugout matting is an issue, we don't have anything there right now we'll be changing that out with this financing. Also, we will be updating a couple more infields that are at West Park, the northeast and the southwest diamonds, to be all clay in fields. That is part of our campaign and this money will go a long way to be able to support that change."
