A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Wheatland County.

The watch was put in effect on Sunday (June 15) due to conditions being favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms in the evening.

"Local travel delays are possible. Driving conditions may be difficult," wrote Environment Canada. "When thunder roars, go indoors. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year."

The group added that heavy rain can lead to flash flooding and reduced visibility. Large hail can also cause significant damage and injury.

Another Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for the county on Friday.
