Five people were arrested late last week after a man was seen pointing a handgun at passing cars. 

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. last Thursday in the area of Burrows Avenue and McKenzie Street. 

When police arrived, they say they saw a man run into a home in the 600 block of Alfred Avenue. 

With assistance from the Tacitcal Support Team and the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit, officers were able to find and safely arrest five people within the residence. 

A search warrant was executed, and officers found and seized a 12-gauge shotgun, a pellet gun, a large quantity of ammunition, various firearms components, and body armour.

Two men, ages 39 and 26 and a 38-year-old woman were arrested and face several firearms-related charges. 

All three remain in custody.

Two others, a 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, are facing three firearms-related charges and were released on undertakings. 

The investigation is ongoing.
