A house fire on a rural property near D’Arcy, Sask., led to one minor injury and the loss of several animals, according to Kindersley Fire.

Crews were dispatched to the scene just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, where a single residential structure was reported to be on fire. While all occupants had evacuated safely, initial reports indicated that multiple animals were trapped inside.

Kindersley Fire responded with multiple units and was joined on scene by EMS, RCMP, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy.

One individual sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by EMS.

Firefighters tackled the blaze with both exterior and interior attacks, and used vertical and horizontal ventilation strategies before conducting overhaul operations.

The fire was brought under control and all units were cleared from the scene shortly after midnight.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
