It's going to be all hands — and wheels — on deck at the Kindersley Elk's Hall on Monday night at 6:30 for the Kindersley All-Wheel Park & Recreation Area annual park meeting.
The meeting will provide a chance for Kindersley residents to voice their opinions and concerns about the park, but the main goal of organizer Tyrone Kennedy Bush is to gather names and support from people in hopes of building a committee to begin to organizing fundraisers and different events surrounding the creation of the park.
The project has put out multiple tenders for support over the years, gaining over 2000 responses in the form of signatures and survey replies since 2015. They are looking for another 500 signatures this year along with other data to present to Kindersley Town Council.
"We also need to resurvey all the local small communities surveyed in 2013, 2016 & 2020 for information on their parks and recreate that survey in 2025 as the information I presented to the last 3 councils is not valid to the new one." shared Kennedy-Bush on Facebook back in January. "These would be the first steps to repeat towards seeing if the town believes people want to have a free place of this kind to play."
Momentum has stunted on the project in recent years. The skate park plans have been in place around twelve years now total, presented to four different council groups, and Kennedy-Bush shared the unfortunate fact that if there is no plan to build in 2026, the project will be coming to an end in 2025.
"I simply just want to create a free space for kids to learn & grow & am putting out one last call for community action in order to bring this park to reality." the post shared further, adding that all donated money will be returned in the case the project doesn’t move forward.
"Thank you to everyone who believed in the vision as I appreciate you all greatly & hope one day the youth in this community will have the same free access to ride as every other community in Canada"
Once again, the meeting is being held Monday night at the Kindersley Elk's Hall beginning at 7:30.
