Re-entry plans are underway for Flin Flon as wildfire conditions near the community improve.

Critical businesses have already started returning to the city to clean, restock and ensure everything is in place.

The closest area of concern that may do damage to the community is near the Mandy Mine and Channing area, according to Flin Flon Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas-Funk.

Mayor Fiddler of Creighton and Deputy Mayor Dallas-Funk were given an aerial overview of the fire. Active hot spots and flames are present around the community, and the active fire line near the community is 82 kilometres long.

"The area was forecast to receive 20mm of rain on Saturday, and only received 1mm," said Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas-Funk.

The fire burning near Flin Flon is now the province's largest, growing to more than 370,000 hectares in size, and still considered out of control.

"We are trying to push forward. We recognize the mental, physical, and emotional toll this is taking on community members, and we are committed to getting the community home safely."

All returning staff are under a curfew, and travel within Flin Flon is restricted between work to home only.

Re-entry is based on guidelines that the province has set based on emergency services available. Hospital facilities must be assessed, and safety-critical equipment recalibrated for service.

The City of Flin Flon was forced out of its community on May 28, 2025.

Other places like Snow Lake, Sherridon and Herb Lake landing residents were allowed to return over the weekend.
