RCMP detachments in Swift Current Rural and Leader are investigating a series of break-ins at post offices across multiple southwest Saskatchewan communities.
Leader RCMP say the break-ins occurred sometime between the evening of June 11 and the morning of June 12 at post offices in Lancer and Prelate. Damage was done to mailboxes at both sites. Police say no items have been reported stolen so far.
Meanwhile, Swift Current Rural RCMP are investigating similar incidents at post offices in Herbert, Waldeck, and Webb between the evening of June 12 and the morning of June 13. Mailboxes were damaged at all three locations.
A package containing a camera was reported stolen from the Herbert post office, and investigators believe some mail may have been taken from the Webb location. It remains unclear whether other items were stolen.
RCMP in both detachments are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with information — or who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the affected post offices — to contact police by calling 310-RCMP.
