A stretch of 18th Street NW in Portage la Prairie will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, June 18 due to railway crossing construction.
The closure will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the rail tracks just north of Park Drive. Crews will be working throughout the day with the aim of reopening the road by day’s end.
Work expected to wrap up by evening
According to the City of Portage la Prairie, the closure is necessary to complete repairs at the railway crossing. Detours will be in place while the work is underway.
Drivers are being asked to plan ahead and take alternate routes if travelling through that area.
The City mentions the work is expected to be completed Wednesday evening, weather permitting.
