Just one day after lifting a mandatory evacuation order and telling residents they could return home, Tataskweyak declared a State of Emergency and is asking residents to delay returning.
TCN said in a post on Facebook that their water treatment plant is no longer functioning.
"Water is off again," said TCN Chief and Council in a post. "Water quality test results that were done came back with high aluminum."
The community says the pipes and reservoir will now need to be cleaned, and then new samples will have to be taken after the cleaning to figure out why the treatment plant is not functioning properly.
"We advise that all members who would like to return, remain where they are."
TCN is now discussing the situation with Indigenous Services Canada and Health Canada in hopes of getting answers.
They say Red Cross has been notified, and the planned transportation has been pushed back until they can find a fix for the water treatment plant.
"We understand this announcement will be upsetting for everyone, especially since we announced the mandatory Fire Evacuation being lifted," said TCN Chief and Council. "We have no choice but to call this State of Emergency, as having clean drinking water to bathe and drink is very important for your overall health and safety."
It is unclear how long it will be before residents can return home.
