It's going to get cold and wet in Strathmore this weekend.
On Thursday (June 19) Environment Canada (EC) issued a Special Weather Statement for Wheatland County, which includes Strathmore, Carseland, and Lyalta.
"Rain will begin Friday, with the heaviest rain forecast to fall along the Alberta foothills. General precipitation amounts will range between 50 to 100 millimetres by Sunday afternoon," wrote EC. "However, some areas, especially along the southern foothills could see between 100 to 200 millimetres."
Cool temperatures will be reaching the area on Friday night, as overnight lows begin to reach the single digits. EC is also expecting snow to land in higher terrain across the area.
Strong winds of around 60 to 80 kilometres will also be arriving on Saturday.
"The strong winds combined with the recent rainfall could result in tree damage," added EC.
