The Boulton Creek Campground recently had a furry visitor.

Recently, a black bear accessed and damaged an unoccupied tent at the Boulton Creek Campground.

The tent had food in it that attracted the bear, but it is not certain if the bear was able to get any of the food from the tent.

Due to the bear entering the tent, Boulton Creek Campground Loop A is closed until further notice, and a Bear Warning has been issued for the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Campgrounds, due to their proximity to the Boulton Creek Campground.

While the warning and closure are for the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Campgrounds and the Boulton Creek Campground, respectively, people can encounter bears anywhere in K-Country at any time.

In order to avoid a surprise encounter with a bear, Alberta Parks is suggesting people make plenty of noise, travel in groups, be aware of your surroundings, look and listen for bears and their signs, keep pets on a leash and carry bear spray that is easy to access.

Alberta Parks is asking people to report all bear signs immediately to 403-591-7755.
