At Eaton School, students are trading desks for dirt. Grades 5 to 9 are learning science hands-on through a vibrant school garden, exploring everything from soil and crops to solar panels — all while building skills, wellness, and a deeper connection to the land.

The 18U AAA Zone 7 Sun Devils are seeing progress this summer with a 5-11 record, already topping last year’s win total. The vibrant artworks now brighten residents’ rooms, offering both creativity and connection. Staff say the activity supports mental wellness and brings real joy.
KCS celebrates student excellence and spirit at annual Awards Day ceremony
Kindersley Composite School celebrated student excellence this week with its annual awards ceremony. Honours were handed out across academics, athletics, arts, and leadership, recognizing standout achievements from Grades 9 to 12. Highlights included Ava Watchel earning the Governor General’s Academic Medal, and major athletic and spirit awards going to students like Bentley Atkinson and Emma Torrens. The event wrapped up with staff service recognition, marking a year of dedication and success at KCS.
Rolling through time: Eaton students restore teacher’s family truck
Eaton School’s shop class is taking on a special project this year—helping their teacher, Clint Hayes, restore a 1952 GMC truck using parts from a 1987 Chevy S-10. The truck holds family history, and students are learning hands-on skills like grinding and welding. Though limited space and keeping everyone involved at once are challenges, Hayes plans for this to be a multi-year project, aiming to finish by 2026 or 2027.
