When she’s not busy as the communications director for the Town of Kindersley, Anna Polsfut is capturing prairie beauty through print, paint and photography — and her latest art show is bringing all that passion to life in a historic setting.
Polsfut will be showcasing her work in a solo exhibition titled Art and Soul, hosted by the Prairie West Historical Society on Wednesday, July 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heritage Gallery, located on the lower level of the Evans House at the Eston Museum.
“I’ve shown in a few spaces before, but getting to display my work inside a historic home like the Evans House is really exciting,” said Polsfut. “I’ve always loved museums and history, so this feels like the perfect fit.”
The show features a mix of Polsfut’s creative styles, ranging from relief and silk screen printmaking to photography and painting — with a strong focus on prairie landscapes and the natural world.
“I can't pick a favourite medium, so I do a bit of everything,” she said with a laugh. “It’s all inspired by what’s around me — nature, rural life, the scenery I see every day.”
Polsfut’s journey into the art world began in an unexpected place: a journalism program. What started as an elective art class at Medicine Hat College quickly turned into a full creative pivot. She graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and has been steadily building her artistic resume ever since, with showings across west-central Saskatchewan and beyond.
Locals may recognize her work from venues like the Norman Ritchie Centre in Kindersley, the Swirl Café, Biggar Museum, and Kerrobert Courthouse Gallery.
The Eston exhibit, however, offers something extra special.
“It’s a chance for people to come out, enjoy some art, bring a friend or the kids, and also support the Eston Museum,” said Polsfut. “It’s more than just an art show, it’s about connecting with the community.”
Polsfut says the collection will remain on display throughout the summer for those who can’t attend the opening.
