Winkler Fire Department responds to structure fire on Parkmeadow Drive

Winkler Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Parkmeadow Drive at 11:10 a.m. on June 17, 2025. According to Fire Chief Richard Paetzold, the fire began in the attached sunroom of a residence. 

Paetzold shared that the fire stayed contained to the sunroom, with some smoke entering the house, and the fire was extinguished quickly by department crews.  

Though the occupant was checked over by EMS for smoke inhalation, no other injuries were reported. 

The fire did not spread beyond the sunroom, and thanks to the fast response from WFD, damage was limited. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
