Winkler Fire Department responds to vehicle fire during Grad Parade

Winkler Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire during the Grad Parade celebrations last week.

At approximately 8:19 p.m. on June 18, 2025, fire crews were dispatched to Park Street after receiving reports of a vehicle fire. According to Winkler Fire Chief Richard Paetzold, the blaze originated in the engine compartment of a vehicle being transported on a trailer in the parade procession.

Bystanders acted quickly, using fire extinguishers to begin suppressing the flames before fire crews arrived on the scene. Winkler Fire Department personnel ensured the fire was fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
