The Saskatchewan Roughriders have completed an eastern sweep to start the 2025 CFL campaign.

After a home opener win against Ottawa in Week 1, and gutsy win against Hamilton in Week 2, a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown with under 30 seconds to go in Week 3 against the Toronto Argonauts gave the Roughriders a 39-32 win to improve their early season record to 3-0.

Friday night's game started out fast with the Argos jumping out to an early 7-0 lead. That score was answered quickly by the Roughriders, as AJ Oullette ripped off a 25-yard touchdown run, and then Trevor Harris connected with Dhonte Myers for a 32-yard touchdown pass for a 14-7 lead after one quarter.

After the teams traded field goals in the second and Saskatchewan took a 17-7 lead into the half, the Riders quickly made it a three-possession game after Harris and Myers hooked up for their second touchdown of the game, a 70-yard catch and run to put the Riders up comfortably.

The Argos would rattle off 11 points to get within three, but the Roughriders scored a QB plunge touchdown early in the fourth to restore their two-score edge. Toronto answered with a field goal, and then with a chance to respond again Riders' kicker Brett Lauther missed the uprights but thankfully came out with a single point to put the Roughriders up 8.

Needing a touchdown and an extra point to stay alive, the Argonauts drove the field and did just that with under 30 seconds remaining, only to give up the game on the ensuing kickoff as Mario Alford took advantage of only 11 players on the field to bury Toronto for good with his 99-yard touchdown.

Their third win of the season elevated Saskatchewan to first place in the west by virtue of wins ahead of 2-0 Winnipeg. After three straight games against East Division opponents to start the season, the Roughriders now have four straight games against divisional opponents before a trip to Montreal on August 2 breaks that streak.

That stretch begins on Saturday at home as the Roughriders host the BC Lions from Mosaic Stadium in Regina at 5:00. After that the Riders have themselves a Canada Day bye week, before a return to action in July that includes Calgary visiting on July 11, a trip to BC on July 19, and then a home against Edmonton to end the month on July 25.
