Manitoba's Filipino community organizations received a big boost in funding from the province.
Labour and Immigration Minister, Malaya Marcelino, announced that the Manitoba government is investing $900,000 in three organizations across the province.
"Manitoba is home to a vibrant Filipino community that contributes so much to the success of our province," said Marcelino. "As we celebrate and honour Filipino Heritage Month this June, our government is proud to partner with local organizations to invest in important projects that will support a thriving Filipino community in our province."
The three organizations to receive funding include Mabuhay District Inc., the Philippine Canadian Centre of Manitoba and the Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba. These three organizations will work together to establish a Filipino business, cultural and care sector zone, which will include the development of a personal care home and a child care centre.
"We’re excited to help support the development of a Filipino economic and cultural hub," said Marcelino. "By working together with community partners, we’re investing in the long-term success of Filipino Manitobans."
Each organization will receive $100,000 per year over the next three years to support the development of these projects.
