Outlook Elementary School is one of fourteen community projects across Western Canada to receive funding through the Co-op Community Spaces program, receiving an allotment of $50,000, out of the $1 million being invested in the program's eleventh year.

Representatives from Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) handed out the cheque at a special presentation inside the school gymnasium last week. The money will be enough to support the replacement of an accessible playground at the school, and to help celebrate the news, the local Riverbend Co-op joined the fun with popsicles for student and staff.

When the playground upgrades are completed in the fall it will mark the second improved playground at the school. With one still left to go, the $50,000 grant not only helps out now, but accelerates the process of getting the third and final set of playground equipment replaced.

"Congratulations to this year’s Community Spaces recipients, their local Co-ops, and all those who will play a role in bringing these meaningful projects to life,” said Heather Ryan, FCL, CEO. “Our Community Spaces program is more than just an investment in infrastructure – it’s a commitment to the people and places that help build sustainable communities together. We’re proud to support these initiatives and witness the lasting impacts they will have in their communities for years to come.”

The other nearby project selected by FCL was the Co-op Community Agricultural Hub in North Battleford. Outside of that another three projects came from Saskatchewan, two from BC, four from Alberta, and then three in Manitoba to round out the list.
