Much of southern Alberta was under a rainfall warning for most of the weekend, due to the amount of rain coming down.

According to Crawford Luke, who is a Meteorologist with Environment Canada, some areas saw over 100 mm of rainfall this weekend.

"It seems like it depended a bit on where you were, but just looking at some of the rainfall numbers we have from the area, probably anywhere in the range of basically 70 to 115 millimeters of rainfall over this weekend for this area," Luke explains.

Luke adds that while June is typically the wettest month of the year for this part of Canada, what the area got this weekend is what typically comes down over the course of the entire month.

"So, basically what we saw this weekend was a month's worth of rain over the course of two or three days."

On top of the rainfall, areas west Foothills County saw some snow over the weekend as well.

"We had two snowfall reports come in from Highwood Pass, and one was 30 centimeters, and one was 45 centimeters of snow. In terms of the Kananaskis Village or Bragg Creek, we just had reports of snow, but we didn't really get amounts. So, I'm not clear is if it was just a dusting or something there."

Environment Canada also reports that third-party websites show that Bragg Creek got 109.7 mm of rainfall, Eden Valley got 106.4 mm of rain, while High River received 80.5 mm of rain over the weekend.

Official weather stations show that Stavely got 114 mm of rain, while Claresholm received 78.7 mm, and the Crowsnest got 51.6 mm of rainfall.

On top of the rain, there was also strong winds blowing across parts of the province.

Claresholm and Stavely both saw 80 km/hr wind gusts on Saturday.
