With one confirmed tornado north of Cabri on the weekend, another funnel cloud is being looked into as a possible second.

Saturday was ripe with funnel clouds in the lower west-central region, with the Thursday to Saturday stretch seeing a large amount of both confirmed twisters and even more still under investigation.

Crawford Luke, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, confirmed that June has had four tornadoes confirmed so far, before last Thursday.

"We know there were more tornadoes for sure on Thursday," said Luke. "We're still working our way through Thursday's and Saturday's reports."

Currently, Luke and his fellow ECCC colleagues are trying to determine the size and power of these would-be tornadoes.

"After these get confirmed, we should be up to 12 tornadoes for the year," said Luke.

Typically, Saskatchewan sees 15 tornadoes a year. Large bunches of them appearing like this aren't uncommon in Saskatchewan during extreme weather.

"I think it's memorable, but I don't know if it's necessarily abnormal," said Luke. "Every few years we see a big event like this in Saskatchewan."
