The second Taste of Summer charity barbecue was a big success, raising $1,198 in support of the Estevan Public Youth Centre (EPYC).
The event, held in partnership with Kingston Midstream, took place outside Shoppers Drug Mart, with hot dogs and hamburgers being served to the community.
Funds raised will help support EPYC’s programming and benefit youth in the community.
“It surpassed all of our expectations. The generosity of people in the community does not disappoint,” said Bonnie Chepil-Kvamme. “The youth are going to appreciate this so much. I just can’t get over how successful this was, it’s so meaningful.”
She added that the funds will help keep the center open and ensure kids are fed.
EPYC’s next event is a community scavenger hunt on June 27, co-hosted with the Estevan Public Library.
The Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue runs every Wednesday, with a new location and a different non-profit organization as the weekly beneficiary. Next week's BBQ will be at The Brick at the Estevan Market Mall, supporting the Children's Miracle Network
