The Town of Claresholm is urging all pet owners to follow responsible pet ownership practices.
The town has received ongoing concerns about dogs running loose, off-leash dogs in public areas, aggressive behaviour and excessive barking.
The town took to social media to remind pet owners to do their part in ensuring the safety of residents and other pets, such as securing their yards and fences to prevent escapes, training and socializing their dogs, and minimizing excessive barking.
Under the town’s Animal Control Bylaw, dogs must be on a leash when off your property unless in a designated off-leash area.
Residents are also reminded to help keep parks and sidewalks clean and always pick up after their dogs.
“Being a responsible pet owner makes Claresholm a safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable place for everyone — two-legged and four-legged alike,” the town said. “Let’s work together to keep our community welcoming for all.”
