A new Principal for Stavely School was announced by the Livingstone Range School Division last week.

Julaine Guitton moves into the position beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge, has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta and is currently chasing a Master of Education from the University of Alberta.

Guitton has a lot of experience in the education field with more than 20 years teaching all grade levels throughout the division.

She also won an Alberta Teachers' Association Indigenous Education Award in 2021, and is a Lighthouse Beacon Reviewer with Leader in Me.

Superintendent of the school division, Darryl Seguin, is quoted in an announcement they released on June 18.

“As the Leader in Me Lighthouse Leader at Stavely School, Julaine has played a significant role in the school's growth and improvement over the years,” says Seguin. “Having worked at Stavely School for the past 10 years, Julaine's deep connection to and understanding of the school community will serve her well in making the transition to the school principal.”

Guitton is thrilled for the opportunity.

“I am a proud advocate for rural education,” she says. “And I look forward to continuing to bring outstanding education and experiences to the students and families at Stavely School.”

Growing up on a ranch in Southern Alberta has allowed her to share both of her passions, farming and teaching. She's a leader in 4-H and lives on a farm with her husband and two sons.
