A two-vehicle collision just west of MacGregor caused a temporary closure of Highway 1 on Monday evening, but no serious injuries were reported.
MacGregor Fire Chief Chris Leckie says the crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. along a stretch of the highway with no intersections or known risk factors.
“There were reports of a two-vehicle accident just west of MacGregor on No. 1 Highway,” notes Leckie.
All patients released on scene
Emergency crews responded promptly, and Leckie says the people involved did not require transport to hospital.
“Fortunately, there were no major injuries with this incident,” says Leckie.
Not a known danger zone
According to Leckie, the location of the crash is not considered problematic.
“No, it was just one of those unforeseen accidents,” adds Leckie. “Nothing to do with any intersection or anything like that.”
Strong response from all agencies
The fire chief says support from multiple responders helped keep things running smoothly.
“We had a good turnout, lots of guys,” says Leckie.
“Quick response from a lot of the other agencies, RCMP and the towing company,” adds Leckie.
He says traffic was stopped for a brief period while responders worked with those involved and cleared the scene.
“We had the highway shut down for a short amount of time while we had worked with the patients, the vehicles, and the towing company,” continues Leckie.
