Now that summer is officially here for students, Rocky View Schools (RVS) would like to remind Airdronians of several summer programs available through their free Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) initiative.

"From creative activities to outdoor adventures, our programs are designed to be inclusive, engaging and enriching for all families in our communities," shared RVS.

According to RVS, these are the programs in Airdrie that you need to register for:

  • Artistic Flow 
    • A free, mindful, expressive art and experiential yoga program. Learn and practice inclusive poses, stretching, breathwork, relaxation, and movement to reduce worry and increase coping skills and resilience for everyday stressors. No experience necessary, and all materials are supplied, but you can bring your own yoga mat and water bottle if you wish.
  • Mental Health Connection (Gratitude Rocks)

    • This youth-focused program will provide participants the opportunity to engage in cooperative activities, mindful expressive arts and collaborative games while building a sense of self, community and healthy relationships. Focus: Positive self-talk, social connections, emotional literacy, healthy relationships and fun mindful activities

  • Family and Community Connection Activity - Kinsugi Inspired Art

    • This free family and community "Stay and Play" experiential art activity, inspired by kintsugi, uses creative clay-based expression to support emotional wellbeing and self-discovery. Participants engage in mindful art-making that explores themes of imperfection, resilience and transformation — promoting relaxation, reducing stress and building self-worth. Guided by facilitators, the session offers a safe, inclusive space to connect with oneself, family and community, strengthening mental health and bonds with others through the beauty of repair and renewal.

  • Family and Community Connection Activity – Shamrock Lanes

    • This free family "Stay and Play" experiential bowling activity promotes mental and emotional well-being through physical activity, creative play and strong community connections. Bowling offers a fun, low-pressure way to get moving, boosting mood, reducing stress and improving focus. Participants engage in mindful, team-based activities that encourage self-expression, build self-esteem and support emotional regulation. Supported by experienced facilitators, this inclusive program creates a safe, supportive space for individuals and families to connect, build resilience and strengthen both mental and physical health through shared movement, laughter and meaningful social interaction.

  • Family and Community Connection Activity – Kintsugi Inspired Art – Air Dry Clay

    • This is a free experiential expressive creative arts pottery class that utilizes the art of pottery painting to enhance mental and emotional well-being. Participants will explore self-expression by engaging in mindful, creative processes that promote relaxation, reduce stress and build self-esteem. Guided by experienced facilitators, this program offers a safe, supportive space where individuals can connect with themselves and others, fostering resilience, creativity and personal growth through the healing power of art and family/community connections.

  • Family and Community Connection Activity – Calgary Farmyard Mindful Scavenger Hunt

    • Join us for our family-friendly scavenger hunt designed to spark curiosity, connection and calm in nature. Move through themed zones filled with animals, sensory challenges and playful mindfulness activities — perfect for most ages!

      Spending time outdoors and practicing mindfulness can reduce stress, boost mood and strengthen family bonds. This experience encourages families to slow down, notice the little things and feel more grounded together.

  • Family and Community Connection Activity – Painting Pottery for Wellness

    • This is a free, experiential, expressive and creative arts pottery class which utilizes the art of pottery painting to enhance mental and emotional well-being. Participants will explore self-expression by engaging in mindful, creative processes which promote relaxation, reduce stress and build self-esteem. Guided by experienced facilitators, this program provides a safe and supportive space where individuals can connect with themselves and others, fostering resilience, creativity and personal growth through the healing power of art and family and community connections.

 

A number of different drop-in programs are available. All of them are "Mindfulness in the Park".
