Saskatchewan students heading to college or university this fall can now apply for financial support through the province’s student aid program.
Applications for the 2025-26 Saskatchewan Student Aid Fund opened this week, offering access to provincial and federal grants, loans, bursaries and loan forgiveness programs. The program is designed to help eligible students cover the cost of their education and related expenses.
“The Saskatchewan Student Aid Fund helps students access post-secondary education from their first year through to joining Saskatchewan's workforce,” said Advanced Education Minister Ken Cheveldayoff in a news release. “The Government of Saskatchewan remains committed to investing in financial support to enable students to complete their post-secondary education and build rewarding lives and careers in Saskatchewan.”
The province plans to provide $46.5 million in direct support to more than 24,000 students this year — $34.4 million in grants and loans and $12.1 million in scholarships and bursaries.
Depending on eligibility, students could receive up to $5,850 in non-repayable funding through grants and the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship. Additional support of up to $950 per dependent is available to lower-income students through the Saskatchewan Student Grant for Students with Dependants.
Sky Southwind, a 2025 business diploma graduate, credited financial aid with helping her complete her education.
“The support lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and motivated me to show up, work hard, and overcome challenges,” she said. “I’m truly grateful for the help that kept me on track to build a strong foundation for my future.”
Post-secondary graduates who live and work in Saskatchewan can also access up to $24,000 in tax credits through the expanded Graduate Retention Program, which has supported more than 85,000 grads since 2008.
