Canada Day is quickly approaching, and there is a variety of celebrations happening in the Foothills for families to enjoy.
Here’s a look at what is happening.
Okotoks
The Canada Day festivities begin in the Town of Okotoks at 11 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.
The day includes live music, dance performances, games, and a barbeque at the Rec Centre grounds.
The celebration wraps up at approximately 10:30 p.m. with a fireworks display at Bill Robertson Park.
High River
The celebrations in the Town of High River run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at George Lane Park and include a Show and Shine, market, games, and a cake cutting.
The festivities start again at 7 p.m. at Emerson Lake and include food trucks and a fireworks show.
De Winton
The De Winton Community Association is hosting the 43rd annual Canada Day Breakfast from 9 a.m. until noon.
The day includes a radio DJ live on location, children’s games, face painting, and a quilt raffle where proceeds will go to the Rowan House Society.
Nanton
In Nanton, the Bomber Command Museum of Canada is open however, there are no engine runs scheduled for Canada Day.
There is a free Canada Day swim at the Tom Hornecker Rec Centre (THRC) pool from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Claresholm
The Town of Claresholm’s celebrations run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial Park.
The day begins with a flag-raising ceremony, cake cutting, and live music.
There will also be kids’ activities, barbeque and cotton candy, water fun, and a market.
Granum
Festivities in Granum run all day, kicking off at 8 a.m. with the Canada Day Show and Shine, followed by a pancake breakfast, activities at the library, barbeque, and kids’ activities at the park.
A cake cutting ceremony will be at 4:45 p.m. at the Golf Club House, followed by a parade at 7:30 p.m. and a fireworks show at dusk.
Diamond Valley
The Town of Diamond Valley’s fireworks display is set for dusk at the South side of the Oilfields Arena, a DJ will be on-site playing Canadian hits, and there will be games for kids.
