Keaton Belsher, a standout receiver for the Central Cyclones, has been recognized for his exceptional performance at the CFC Prospect Game.
In February, Belsher participated in the Canadian Football Chat (CFC) Prospect Game tryouts at the Yara Center in Moose Jaw. This event was part of the CFC Evaluation Tour, which included various combine-style tests such as the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, vertical jump, and broad jump.
The roster was then announced at the end of April, with the big game slated for May 24 in Hamilton at Hamilton Stadium. Belsher would go off with eight receptions and 142 yards.
"They had me in a good spot with a bunch of good routes for what the defense was running. The quarterback did a good job getting me the ball, and then the last hail mary play that I caught helped boost the stats up," said Belsher.
CFL panelists Davis Sanchez and Milt Stegall were the special guest head coaches. Belsher was selected by Team Sanchez, which ultimately lost by a score of 28-27.
"It was a great experience going down there. We did lose by one point on a missed field goal, which was unfortunate, but it was great coaching down there and good competition."
The 6' 2" and 190-pound wide out is heading into his graduating season after being recognized as one of the 75 best football prospects in the country by making the roster. He is excited to apply all he has learned to this coming season of Cyclones football.
"I got a couple of new skills from our coach from Queen's University. We didn't have much time together, but he packed in as much as he could with the time we had," praised Belsher.
Belsher was one of four Saskatchewan players to make it to the CFC Prospect Game, as you can check out our other story on Dax Gibney of the Peacock Tornados below.
