Saskatchewan's best AAA baseball talent will be in Meadow Lake on Tuesday for the 2025 SPBL All Star Game.

The 18U AAA Zone 7 Sun Devils are based out of Meadow Lake but are comprised of players from all around the Zone 7 region. The area team for West Central talent, local players on the 14-player roster include Keegan Schell from Wilkie, Connor Ralston from Unity, Cale Morris from Rosetown, and Darian Lowe from Macklin.

Schell is one of five all-stars from the team, set to play in the rookie game, as Sun Devils coach Regan Beck talked about bringing the All-Star festivities up north.

"Really excited about it. This is only the second year the all-star game has existed. Not sure what they did prior, but it came back last year in Muenster, which is kind of the heartland of baseball in Saskatchewan," said Beck. "We are kind of an outpost (in Meadow Lake) so really appreciate that the league was willing to come up here and trust us to host the event." said Beck promising a good show.

Beck began teeing up the Canada Day baseball by talking about the veteran's game.

"It's a great level of baseball." said Beck. "I know last year there was probably about 20 guys in the veteran's game who went on to play post-secondary baseball after that. We are looking at something similar this year."

The rookie game, featuring Wilkie's Schell on the roster as a local player, will take place first.

"The way the league does it, they have a rookie game which is for your Grade 10 guys. They get started at 1:00 PM and play a full game." said Beck as Schell will be joined by teammate and Maidstone native Cruz Harrison in the game.

After those nine innings the focus will shift to the vets, the Sun Devils in attendance being Brandt Spencer, Reid Beck, and Colton Parker.

"At 4:00 PM will be the veteran game. Primarily third years, some second years, but usually just the third years. Same idea of playing a full out seven inning game, and the boys play for keeps."

The all-star festivities will be met with nice weather. It won't get to the +30 degrees expected around Kindersley, a sunny high of 27 in the forecast up north instead.
