The Moose Jaw Miller Express wrapped up an eight-game Alberta road swing by splitting games against the Fort McMurray Giants and Energy City Cactus Rats over the weekend.

On Friday night, the Giants came from behind to pick up a 6–5 win over the Miller Express. Moose Jaw opened the scoring in the top of the first off an Austin Gurney double to right field to score Thomas Soto. Tanner DeGrazia then hit a sacrifice grounder to score William Edwards and put Moose Jaw up 2–0.

Fort McMurray tied the game 2–2 in the bottom of the second. However, Moose Jaw regained the lead in the top of the fifth as Edwards doubled to left field to drive home Ben Waliczek.

The Giants went ahead 4–3 in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run from Matt Rhoades. But in the top of the seventh, Gurney hit into a fielder’s choice to score Waliczek, and Jackson Yeager followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Soto, giving Moose Jaw a 5–4 lead.

Fort McMurray scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth and kept Moose Jaw off the scoresheet in the top of the ninth to take the 6–5 win.

On Saturday afternoon, the Miller Express wrapped up their Alberta road trip with a 4–1 win over the Energy City Cactus Rats.

Moose Jaw opened the scoring with Gurney hitting a single to centre field to score Edwards. However, Zach Barnao answered in the bottom of the third with a single to drive in Parker Husu and tie the game.

The Miller Express rounded out the scoring with three runs in the top of the fifth. Gurney doubled to centre field to bring in Soto and Edwards, and Eduardo Saenz followed with a single to right field to bring home Gurney to seal the 4–1 win.
