Beach-goers were able to enjoy using the new washrooms at Nickle Lake Regional Park, which were opened up to the public before the weekend. Some of the other washrooms at the park were given a fresh coat of paint before the opening of the camping season this spring.
The building also features a courtyard, adjoining the future new canteen set to open in 2026, with the Mini Golf course and beer gardens set to be moved to the same area.
The project is all part of an ongoing effort to create a new 'hub of the park', with a Sports Court also near completion in the open space behind the canteen, which will facilitate pickleball, volleyball, and basketball. Funding for the cement and fencing came from an $8,000 Community Fund Grant from the Weyburn Credit Union.

Nickle Lake hosted the Canada Day festivities on Tuesday and will be holding 'Nickle Lake Days' on the August long weekend.
"We're going to fill that sports court with foam and let everybody have a foam party. We've got two big cannons, so we're going to fill that pickleball court right full of foam, and the kids are going to have a blast," shared Park Manager Darren Wheeler.
Patrons on a tight budget might enjoy taking advantage of the Mini Golf course this year, as it is the last year for the old course.
"The mini golf this year is actually by donation only. So that the gates are open during the daytime and then clubs are there and the balls are there, and then we just ask [users] to make a like a $2 per head donation. This way, I thought, well, it'll just be nice for everybody to just go use it."
Wheeler added those using the mini golf course should be respectful of the facility.
Fundraising is also underway for the paddling pool and splash park planned to be built next summer, with Bingo Nights every Thursday throughout the summer from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Beer Gardens, and anyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the game. Another way they are raising funds is through weekly 50/50 raffles.
