Airdrie's Municipal Enforcement will once again be back on bikes this summer, patrolling Airdrie's major pathways.

Brad Tomlinson, the team leader for Airdrie's Municipal Enforcement, stated that they are committed to ensuring the safety and security of Airdrie's pathways.

"We'll be ramping up here in the coming weeks, looking to start right away with both teams that rotate shifts here within the city, and getting out on the pathways and engaging with the public."

He explained that Municipal Enforcement target different areas of the city.

"We do target specific areas that we know are busier and just generate more traffic. Each year, we run into multiple different things, and it's just the benefit of being out and engaging in a different capacity outside of our vehicles."

"We will still partner with the RCMP if we need help. They're always there to help us out."

Tomlinson explained Chinook Winds, general pathways through the residential area, are a few spots they will target.

"We uphold every bylaw within the city of Airdrie, as well as provincial legislation such as traffic safety, gaming and liquor and  tobacco reduction."

When asked how long the program will run this summer, he explained it will be weather-dependent, but hopefully into the fall.

The Airdrie RCMP are not running their bike program this summer.
