As summer heats up, so do our opportunities to enjoy lakes, pools, and all things water-related. But with fun comes responsibility. That's why Drowning Prevention Week is making waves across the region from July 20–27, bringing free, family-friendly events and activities to raise awareness and build water safety skills that save lives.
Every year, preventable drownings claim lives across Canada, especially during the summer months. Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children, but with the right education and preparation, many of these tragedies can be avoided. Drowning Prevention Week focuses on building water confidence, promoting lifejacket use, supervising young swimmers, and understanding the risks of open water.
