Despite a mid game surge by the Marlins, the Red Sox held on for a win on Thursday night.

A mid game surge by the Sask Five Marlins brought them close to a comeback in last night's matchup against the East Central 18UAAA Red Sox, but the Sox' bats got to work to secure an 11-9 win.

The Red Sox jumped ahead early with a four run first inning. Sluggers Jarret Rude and Jacob Trann both doubled to centre field while Jaxon Schlepper and Pryor Dyck both took single swipe, each one accounting for a run.

The Sox then took a commanding 9-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Graydn Wilson swatted a single for a run as did Taylor Coleman. With the bases loaded, Rude was struck by a pitch sending another home, and a ground out by Luke Manz brought in another pair for the Red Sox.

However, the Marlins owned the fifth inning posting 6 runs and closing the gap to one run, but the Red Sox posted another pair, courtesy of Cade Britz’s timely home run to pull up by three. Luke Manz in relief held off the last Marlin's effort.

Britz led the way at the plate going three for four on the night including the right field home run and a pair of singles. Pryor Dyck got the win on the mound.

The Red Sox are back at it on Saturday facing the Regina Athletics in a pair at James Korte Field. The first game goes at 12 noon in Muenster.

See you Saturday for great SPBL action.
