West Central is burning hot to start the week, Leader the hot spot on Tuesday at a heat warning high of 34.
The entire region is fighting blazing temperatures in the low to mid-30s, humidex values ranging between 34 and 38 today with UV index levels very high as well. Looking at Wednesday's weather both the highs and humidex levels are similar, only some areas being treated to what should be a notable breeze.
The extreme heat, especially in the southwest, is expected to dissipate on Wednesday with rain showers to follow. Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Crawford Luke, says we can expect that weather trend to stick around.
"It looks like it's going to be an up-and-down weather pattern, with a little bit of everything in store." said Luke. "As we get into Wednesday, we will heat up again around 30 degrees. But then it looks like we cool back down by the end of the week, with some rain coming through."
Each weather station around the region currently has at least a 60 per cent chance of showers beginning Wednesday night, but after a cloudy Thursday, we should set back up for a nice weekend says Luke.
"Kind of looks like we continue this trend."
While the weather will improve once again after the rain, it's not expected to get as hot as it has been to start the week. View the full forecast for the week HERE.
