Rob Carney - It's another edition of Take 5 with Carney and Carmichael, featuring Moose Jaw city manager Maurice Carmichael. Today we're talking about tourism.

It's peak tourism season in Moose Jaw, and what a month it's been so far Maryse, I mean, we had Sidewalk Days, and then we had Shania Twain right on the heels of Sidewalk Days.

You checked out Sidewalk Days and you checked out Shania Twain. Memorable, huh?

Maryse Carmichael - It's been quite a few busy days here in the city and I was just telling some of the staff at the office this morning. I'm like: ‘I can't believe it, Sidewalk Days are over. Shania Twain is over’.

Lots of visitors in the city, I mean, we are a tourist city. It's great to see both our own residents enjoying our beautiful downtown and also to seeing that the visitors that are coming to the shows or coming to just shop and relax in our beautiful city.

Rob - You know what’s remarkable is the fact that I know a lot of local people complain about downtown Moose Jaw. They complain about Crescent Park, and when we have visitors, all they do is compliment us on our beautiful downtown, on our beautiful park downtown.

Maryse - It is beautiful! I have to say last night when I was leaving the Shania Twain concert—around 10 o’clock, 10-10:15—it was a gorgeous evening, everyone was walking downtown Moose Jaw to get back to their car or to get back home. There was not a problem at all.

We are really privileged to have such a beautiful downtown.
