Each senior baseball league around the area — the Fertile Valley Baseball League, North Saskatchewan River Baseball League, Coteau Hills Baseball League, and Battle River Baseball League — are officially into the postseason with play beginning as early as last week.

Starting with the FVBL, tonight at 7:00 PM the Rosetown Angels are travelling west across Highway 7 to play the Kindersley Cubs in Game 1 of a best-of-three semifinal.

The Cubs and Angels finished tied in the regular season standings, each at 7-3, but it was the Cubs earning home field through a tiebreaker. Game 2 of the series back in Rosetown is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 PM, and if necessary, Game 3 is penciled in for Kindersley on Sunday at 7:00 PM once again.

The FVBL playoff schedule actually started Monday night in Kindersley with the first-place Oyen Eagles in Kindersley to face the Stallions. The Eagles finished the regular season undefeated at 10-0 and stayed perfect beating the Stallions 11-1 in Game 1.

As of Tuesday, it's not clear what day Game 2 is being played, but it will be in Oyen, and if necessary, Game 3 will be as well, all games starting at 7:00 PM.

The Unity Cardinals finished first place in the NSRBL with a 13-1 record and will be playing the Mervin Flyers in their first round of playoffs. Unity played all of their games this season out of Wilkie with their Cardinal Diamond revitalization project still going on, and the first round of playoffs will be in Wilkie as well.

The other matchups in the league are #2 North Battleford playing #7 Glaslyn, #3 Standard Hill playing #6 Lloydminster, and finally #4 Lashburn playing the #5 Oil City Ducks.

Over in the BRBL the Macklin Lakers also finished first place, earning themselves a first-round bye in the process. The Lakers went 7-0 in the regular season and are seeking their third straight Battle River Baseball League title.
