The latest update from the Manitoba Wildfire Service indicates that conditions remain largely unchanged from recent days.

Officials say the majority of the province remains at a high fire danger level.

Crews are actively responding to 83 wildfires. So far this season, 237 wildfires have been recorded in Manitoba, above the average for this date of 191 total fires.

Fire EA061 in the eastern region, remains out of control and has now grown to approximately 234,390 hectares. As a result, closures and mandatory evacuation orders remain in place for sections of Nopiming Provincial Park, as well as the entirety of Wallace Lake and South Atikaki provincial parks.

Provincial Road 314 remains closed through Nopiming, while PR 315 is open, allowing access to Bird Lake, Booster Lake, Flanders Lake, and Davidson Lake.

Fire WE017, located near Sherridon and the City of Flin Flon, is also out of control and currently measures approximately 370,780 hectares. For the safety of personnel, boaters are asked to avoid waterways being utilized by Manitoba Wildfire Service tankers and aircraft.

Although fire and travel restrictions have been lifted in many areas, travel permits are still required for anyone entering an active fire zone. Residents are also reminded to check for local restrictions set by their municipalities.

Since May 1, Manitoba Conservation Officers have issued 96 charges and 32 warnings for violations related to wildfire activity.
